If you’re looking for fresh masculine card ideas or a sports-themed project with a little movement, this Match Day fun fold card is a great one to try.

In this tutorial, I’m sharing how to create an interactive diamond-style fun fold using the Match Day bundle and A Wonderful Match Designer Series Paper. The design adds dimension without complicated steps, making it perfect for birthdays, team celebrations and cards for the soccer fans in your life.

This project was originally created for a demonstrator shoebox swap and was inspired by a fold shared by fellow demonstrator Kim Quade. It’s one of those layouts that looks impressive but is surprisingly easy once you understand how the base is constructed.

About the Match Day Bundle

The Match Day bundle will be available beginning March 3 as part of the Online Exclusives release.

The set includes bold sports imagery such as a soccer ball, jersey elements, goal netting, grass details, and coordinating sentiments. The dies offer additional versatility, making the bundle useful for both cardmaking and scrapbook pages.

How the Fun Fold Works

The base of this card begins with a standard card panel scored at several points to create the dimensional fold. Once the ends are secured, the card naturally pops into shape.

A small scored support piece is added to the front to create a raised platform for the focal image. This allows the design to stand up when the card is opened while still folding flat for mailing.

Designer Series Paper is layered across the panels to create continuity, and a focal scene is built using one of the preprinted note card designs from A Wonderful Match Designer Series Paper. The stamped soccer ball adds emphasis and ties the theme together.

Strong adhesive, such as Tear & Tape, is helpful for the moving elements, while standard adhesive works well for decorative layers.

Design Details and Tips

One of the fun aspects of this card is layering Designer Series Paper on top of Designer Series Paper. Using both sides of the same pattern keeps the design cohesive while adding visual interest.

The suite also includes Wonderful Stars puffy stickers, which make finishing the card quick and add texture without additional bulk. A simple visual triangle with embellishments completes the focal area.

The back of the card includes two writing panels, giving you space for a message or additional stamping. This layout can easily be adapted for other sports, hobbies, or seasonal themes by changing the papers and focal image.
