Season of Chic for Snowy Stampers Dozen Blog Hop

I’m back with a card for the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop for January! This month’s theme is snow. I thought I had exhausted all of my winter stamping with my hundreds of holiday cards, but I guess there was still some left in the tank 🙂

For this card, I used a bunch of supplies like the Season of Chic stamp set that have been overlooked these last few months. I recently saw a post showing some suggested color combos for an icy feel, which is why I decided to go with Highland Heather, Bubble Bath and Balmy Blue. The Season of Chic stamp set and coordinating Chic dies are still some of my all-time favorites, and the snowflake die cuts are just the right sizes.

The background DSP is from the Delightfully Eclectic package. There are so many designs in there – 48 sheets, with 4 12×12 sheets of 12 double-sided designs! The colors are great, making whatever you are creating really POP.

I used some vellum to soften the background and to allow some Highland Heather and Balmy Blue snowflakes to softly accent the background. Vellum is an under-used (IMO) resource. It is translucent, providing a subtle, ethereal quality to any project. The delicate finish adds a layer of sophistication, making it perfect for creating wedding invitations, elegant cards, or any project where a touch of refinement is desired. Just a couple of things to note about using vellum:

  1. Vellum has a somewhat slick surface, and isn’t as absorbent as regular cardstock. This means that you need to be careful to either let your stamping air dry for a bit, or use a heat tool to speed up the process to keep it from smudging.
  2. Because vellum is translucent, any adhesive you use will likely show through. The way around this is to apply your adhesive behind any elements or darker stamping, and to use tiny quantities.

All of these disparate items came together for this Season of Chic birthday card! This could easily also be a holiday card by just changing the sentiment. I know I’m always on the lookout for multi-purpose designs, and I hope your find this useful for your cardmaking resource stash of ideas.
