Stampin' Up! Bee My Valentine in reds and pinks with a bumble bee

Create a Bee My Valentine card with this Stampin’ Up! cardmaking tutorial and live replay. Easy steps, tips, and finishing ideas included.

If you’re already thinking ahead to Valentine’s Day cardmaking, you’re in good company — this is exactly the time many stampers start creating handmade Valentine cards. In this Wednesday cardmaking live, I shared how to create this sweet Bee My Valentine card using a mix of classic and current Stampin’ Up! products.

For this card, I used the Bee My Valentine stamp set, which has been around for a while and remains a favorite thanks to its cute images and coordinating punch. While it’s no longer sold as a bundle, the stamp set and punch are still available separately — and they work beautifully together.

This design features:

  • A Real Red card base with a white panel on the inside (always a must with darker cardstock)
  • A decorated interior using leftover strips of Made With Love Designer Series Paper — proof that scraps can be just as fun as the front of the card
  • A textured background created with the Hearts of Love 3D Embossing Folder

I used Flirty Flamingo two-tone cardstock for the embossed panel. The darker side is the true Stampin’ Up! color, while the lighter side gives you a softer shade — either works depending on the look you want.

Bee My Valentine Card Focal Point

The focal point starts with an arch die cut from the same Made With Love Designer Series Paper, tying everything together visually. On top of that, I layered punched shapes for the sentiment:

  • A To the Point Punch shape cut from Real Red two-tone cardstock
  • A 1¾” Circle Punch layered on top
  • The Be Mine sentiment stamped in Real Red ink

I added dimensionals here (of course!) — I love having at least one layer of dimension on my cards without going overboard.

The star of the card is the bumblebee, and this is where things get especially fun using the combination of the Bee My Valentine set and the Bee Builder Punch:

  • The bee’s body is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Crushed Curry cardstock and punched out using the coordinating punch
  • The wings are stamped on Basic White cardstock and punched using the heart shape from the same punch — such a clever detail
  • A small stamped smile brings the bee to life

The wings are attached behind the body, and the bee is adhered to the card front with liquid glue.

Valentine Card Finishing Touches & Embellishments

To finish the card, I added embellishments from the Loose Valentine Assortment. These pieces are designed for shaker cards but work beautifully as accents, too. I used:

  • Small hearts
  • A tiny envelope
  • And a few fun lip-shaped pieces

I recommend using the Take Your Pick Tool with the putty tip for these — it makes placing tiny embellishments so much easier than tweezers.

I go live every Wednesday at 5:00 pm ET to share cardmaking projects, tips, and the occasional Stampin’ Up! update. If you missed the live, you can watch the full replay below.
