Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop Logo for Stampin' Up! demonstrators - Slip into Fall

What better than an underwater Friendly Fins summer scene for a summery blog hop? This adorable stamp/die bundle makes it amazingly easy to create!

Stampin' Up! Friendly Fins summer card with scene and happy birthday sentiment

First, the watery feel of the background was created with the So Swirly embossing folder. This giant folder allows you to choose the swirly areas you like best for the background, although I usually just wing it. By cutting it into 3 equal panels and matting on Basic White cardstock, it adds extra interest to the scene.

Then, there’s all the fun little dies to create the coral, rocks, seaweed, fish and the most adorable little lobster ever! I just took scraps of cardstock in the colors I wanted (see below for details) and sent them through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine all at once.

The dolphin is stamped first and then die cut. I love that the sea animals are 2-step, meaning the outline and the fill-in are two separate stamps. This makes it easy to use two different colors, although I simply used Smoky Slate ink for both. Then I also used this ink for the playful-font sentiment, making this a great birthday card for any sea-loving man or woman.

The flat pearls add a little shimmer to the scene, although I admit it might be a bit too much. The sea floor is always teeming with life, and it was just too hard to resist using a bunch of elements to reflect that! You can add or subtract to your hearts content with all the little pieces available.
