The coordinating washi tape is what really makes this collection special. Instead of coloring stamped images, you can simply adhere the washi tape to cardstock, die cut the images, and they’re ready to use on your cards or scrapbook pages.

Why I Love Washi Tape with Coordinating Dies

If you’ve followed me for a while, you already know I’m a huge fan of Stampin’ Up!’s coordinating washi tapes.

They’re one of my favorite crafting shortcuts because they let you create beautifully colored embellishments in just minutes.

To use the washi tape:

1. Adhere it to a piece of Basic White or White Willow cardstock.
2. Place the coordinating dies over the printed images.
3. Run everything through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
4. Pop out multiple die-cut images in a single pass.

It’s quick, easy, and perfect for creating a stash of embellishments to use later.

Today’s Card

For today’s project, I created a bright summer card featuring:

• Coastal Cabana cardstock
• Strawberry Slush two-tone cardstock
• Summer Happiness Washi Tape
• Stylish Shapes circles
• Die-cut sunglasses
• Coordinating flower die cuts
• “Fun in the Sun” sentiment

The colorful washi tape becomes the patterned background, while the sunglasses and flowers create a playful focal point that’s perfect for summer birthdays, vacations, or just saying hello.

Creating Your Own Designer Paper

One technique I especially enjoyed sharing was using the washi tape to create your own custom patterned paper.

After applying the washi tape to white cardstock, I added narrow Strawberry Slush borders along the top and bottom to frame the design without wasting a full sheet of colored cardstock.

It’s an easy way to stretch your supplies while creating a polished finished look.

Building the Focal Point

The focal point comes together with just a few layered elements:

• A large two-tone cardstock circle
• A smaller white circle stamped with “Fun in the Sun”
• Dimensionally layered sunglasses
• Coordinating flower die cuts

One helpful tip: the sunglass lenses have a left and right piece, so be sure to keep them paired together when assembling your die cuts.

A Card for Summer Getaways

As I mentioned during the live, I plan to make several of these cards to give to my girlfriends when we head down the shore together. I always enjoy bringing a small gift and a handmade card, and this cheerful design is perfect for celebrating a fun summer weekend with friends.

Although I used the sunglasses and flowers on today’s card, the Summer Happiness Washi Tape includes so many images that you can mix and match for completely different looks.

Use the die cuts to create:

• Vacation scrapbook pages
• Summer birthday cards
• Beach-themed thank you cards
• Travel journals
• Memory keeping layouts
• Cards for friends heading on vacation
