In addition to using the template with paper strips, I also created the illusion of strips using markers to create candles. By masking a portion of the card with masking paper, I was able to create a gap where I could stamp the sentiment using the Sweetly Scripted stamp set. I had seen a card like this from an artist who hand-wrote the sentiment, but I would never be able to trust myself to do that so beautifully! Hence, the need for stamps!
