Did you know that there are 22 card templates on page 22 of the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog? I’ve been working my way through them during my weekly Quick Class Lives and I thought I’d share them with you here. I have linked to them below. I’ve gotten through 8 so far!
Also, Sara Douglass (Stampin’ Up!’s CEO) did a Live yesterday sharing how to make your own template. I loved that she shared the benefits of using them to help inspire your cardmaking and showed even more ways to do so. Check out her Live here:
Benefits of Using a Template
- Consistency: Templates ensure that each card you create follows a consistent design layout. This is especially useful if you’re making multiple cards for an occasion or event.
- Time-saving: Templates streamline the design process by providing a framework. You don’t have to spend time figuring out the layout from scratch each time.
- Inspiration: They can serve as inspiration or a starting point for creativity. They help you visualize how different elements (like text, images, and decorations) can come together effectively.
- Efficiency: With a template, you can focus more on the creative aspects like color schemes, embellishments, and personal touches rather than the basic structure of the card.
- Professional results: Even if you’re a beginner, using a template can help you achieve a more polished and professional-looking result because it guides you through a balanced and aesthetically pleasing layout.
- Customization: Templates are versatile and can be adapted to suit different themes, styles, or occasions. You can modify elements such as colors, fonts, and images to personalize each card while still maintaining the overall design structure.
- Learning tool: Working with templates can also be a learning experience. You can study different design principles, such as balance, symmetry, and focal points, by analyzing and using various templates.
- Reusability: Once you have one you like, you can reuse it for future projects with minor adjustments, saving even more time and effort.
In essence, templates in cardmaking provide a practical framework that enhances creativity, efficiency, and the overall quality of your handmade cards. For me, it’s like doing a puzzle, filling in the gaps with stamps, ink and paper. I can step it up it as much as I want, or keep it as simple as I’d like. It is a springboard for creativity!
