This week’s live combined two of my favorite things: a beautiful fun fold card and the gorgeous Velvet Meadow Designer Series Paper. With a little help from the Everyday Arches Dies and a stunning embossed focal point, this card has lots of texture and elegance while still being surprisingly easy to make.
Even better, this is one of the projects my Stamp-a-Stack class attendees will be making this week. I’m excited to share all the details with you!

The Inspiration Behind This Card
This card was inspired by a beautiful design created by Sherry Roth. What immediately caught my attention was the unique fold and the elegant layering of the Everyday Arches Dies.
I adapted the design by incorporating the Velvet Meadow Designer Series Paper and the Floral Spray Embossing Folder, creating a card with plenty of texture and dimension.
One of my favorite parts of cardmaking is taking inspiration from other talented crafters and adding my own twist to create something unique.
Creating the Fun Fold
The card base starts with Thick Basic White cardstock scored to create a simple but interactive fun fold.
The front panel folds back to reveal the inside of the card while providing the perfect place for the decorative arch focal point.
Working with Velvet Meadow Designer Series Paper
The Velvet Meadow paper is truly the star of this project.
I chose two different patterns from the collection:
- A velvet floral design for the front flap.
- A coordinating reverse pattern for the center panel.
Because the velvet texture adds dimension to the paper, I recommend using liquid adhesive for the strongest hold. It helps secure textured surfaces and ensures your card stays together beautifully.
One important note from the live: Velvet Meadow is currently in low inventory, so if this paper catches your eye, you may want to pick it up before it’s temporarily unavailable.
Everyday Arches Meet Floral Embossing
The focal point combines two sizes from the Everyday Arches Dies.
After die cutting the smaller arch, I embossed it using the Floral Spray Embossing Folder. One of the fun aspects of this oversized folder is that you can position your cardstock to highlight different flowers and leaves each time you create a card.
Layering the embossed arch onto the stitched arch die cut creates an elegant centerpiece with lots of visual interest.
The sentiment comes from the Phrases & Frames Stamp Set. I chose “Happiest Birthday Wishes,” but several other greetings in the set would work beautifully.
This layout could easily become:
- Anniversary card
- Wedding card
- Thinking of You card
- Sympathy card
- Congratulations card
A narrow accent strip behind the sentiment adds another pop of color, while the new In Color butterfly embellishments complete the design with a simple visual triangle.
Make It Your Own
One of the things I love most about this card is how adaptable it is.
You can:
- Swap in your favorite Designer Series Paper.
- Use a different embossing folder.
- Change the sentiment for almost any occasion.
- Try different color combinations to match your supplies.
The basic layout stays the same while the finished look can be completely different.
This card is one of the projects featured in my Stamp-a-Stack classes this week, and I can’t wait to see everyone create their own version. If you’d like to make cards like this with me, check out my June class schedule. For info about my upcoming in-person and virtual classes, check out my class descriptions here and my calendar here.
