Handmade fall "Thinking of You" card featuring the Stampin' Up! Simply Leaves Bundle. The card uses Cajun Craze and White Willow cardstock with stamped branch images, layered autumn leaves created with stamps, a coordinating punch, and fussy cutting. A Petal Pink sentiment banner reading "Thinking of you often," a linen thread bow, and pearlized faceted gems complete the clean and elegant autumn design.

Celebrate fall cardmaking with the new Simply Leaves Bundle from Stampin’ Up! This easy handmade card combines stamped backgrounds, punched leaves, soft autumn colors, and simple embellishments for a timeless design that’s perfect for thinking of you, thank you, and autumn greetings.

One of the newest additions to the July Online Exclusives is the Simply Leaves Bundle. While many of the new Online Exclusives focus on Halloween and Christmas, this bundle celebrates the beauty of fall with timeless leaf images and heartfelt greetings.

The bundle includes:

  • Simply Leaves Stamp Set
  • Coordinating Leaf Punch
  • Versatile sentiments for thinking of you, thank you, and everyday cards

I especially love that this project relies primarily on stamping instead of designer series paper. It’s a wonderful reminder that a few well-chosen stamps can create a beautiful card all on their own. Thanks to Debbie Henderson for the design!

A Warm Fall Color Palette

When I think of autumn, one color immediately comes to mind: Cajun Craze.

For this card I paired:

  • Cajun Craze Cardstock
  • White Willow Cardstock
  • Petal Pink Cardstock
  • Linen Thread
  • Pearlized Faceted Gems

The result is a soft, monochromatic palette that feels warm, elegant, and perfect for the season.

Creating a Simple Stamped Background

Rather than reaching for patterned paper, I stamped the delicate leaf vein image directly onto the White Willow panel.

Interestingly, this stamp serves two purposes. When used inside the coordinating leaf image it creates realistic leaf veins, but stamped by itself it resembles tree branches, adding subtle texture to the background without overwhelming the design.

Sometimes the simplest backgrounds are the most effective.

Mixing Stamping, Punching, and Fussy Cutting

This card features three different leaves, each created a little differently.

Stamped and Punched

The large leaf is stamped in Cajun Craze on White Willow cardstock, then punched with the coordinating punch.

One tip from the live: if your punched shape seems backwards after stamping, don’t panic. Simply turn your cardstock over and insert it into the punch from the opposite side.

It’s a simple trick that saves a lot of frustration!

Two-Tone Cardstock

For the second leaf, I punched the shape first from the light side of Cajun Craze Two-Tone Cardstock, then stamped the coordinating vein image in the center.

Using the lighter side of the cardstock allows the stamped details to stand out beautifully.

Fussy Cutting Made Easy

The third leaf doesn’t have a coordinating punch, so I reached for my paper snips.

While I don’t usually seek out fussy cutting, this leaf is actually very easy to cut. The key is to rotate the paper rather than your scissors, leaving a narrow white border around the edge for a clean finish.

Building the Card

The overall layout is simple but elegant.

A diagonal cut on the Cajun Craze strip creates movement across the card, while a narrow Petal Pink sentiment strip adds softness and contrast.

The three leaves overlap to form a small bouquet in the lower left corner of the card, with one leaf popped up on dimensionals for extra depth.

The sentiment, “Thinking of You Often,” makes this design suitable for many occasions throughout the year.

Finishing Touches

Every card needs those little details that bring everything together.

For this project I added:

  • A simple Linen Thread bow
  • Pearlized Faceted Gems
  • Plenty of white space to keep the design light and elegant

One of my favorite tips from the live was tying the bow directly from the spool of Linen Thread. It helps reduce waste and makes it easier to create bows of just the right size.

The pearlized gems in Petal Pink complete the visual triangle while adding just enough sparkle without distracting from the stamped leaves.

Why I Love This Bundle

The Simply Leaves Bundle is much more versatile than it first appears.

In addition to stamping the leaves, you can also:

  • Punch leaves from Designer Series Paper
  • Mix stamped and patterned leaves together
  • Create monochromatic designs
  • Build bouquets for fall, thank you, sympathy, or thinking of you cards

I know this is only the beginning, and you’ll definitely be seeing more projects featuring this bundle in the coming weeks.

Ready for Stamp-a-Stack

This card is one of the projects my Stamp-a-Stack attendees will be making this week, and I can’t wait to see everyone’s version.

Whether you recreate this exact design or use it as inspiration for your own fall cards, I hope you’ll give the Simply Leaves Bundle a try.
