Jul 1, 2026
Stampin' Up! Summer Happiness carfd. A handmade summer-themed greeting card with a Pool Party cardstock base. The left side features a panel of Pool Party polka dot designer paper topped with a circular sentiment that reads "Fun in the Sun" and a pair of bright pink sunglasses. The right side has three stacked white squares stamped with summer icons: a yellow sun, aqua flip-flops, and a yellow lemonade jar. Three pink embellishments add sparkle near the bottom. The card is photographed against a soft blue background with a Stampin' with Brenda watermark in the lower right corner.

This week’s Wednesday Live was all about celebrating the launch of Stampin’ Up!’s July Online Exclusives! While the new release includes lots of exciting fall, Halloween, and Christmas products, I couldn’t resist featuring one more bright and cheerful summer project using the Summer Happiness Bundle.

If you missed the live, be sure to watch the replay below, then keep reading for all the details and a few extra design tips I shared along the way.

Celebrating the July Online Exclusives

The July Online Exclusives have officially arrived, and they’re packed with new inspiration for every season.

Although many of the new products focus on fall and holiday crafting, today’s card showcases one of my favorite summertime collections: the Summer Happiness Bundle.

Last week I shared a card using the coordinating Summer Happiness Washi Tape. This week I wanted to show a completely different look by combining the stamps, dies, and a few of those colorful die-cut accents.

A Fresh Layout

Instead of covering the entire card front with washi tape like last week’s project, this design uses a clean split layout.

One side features playful polka-dot Designer Series Paper, while the other side showcases three stamped squares featuring:

  • A bright summer sun
  • Flip-flops
  • A refreshing glass of lemonade

The simple layout leaves plenty of room for layering while keeping the card clean and easy to recreate.

Coloring the Lemonade

One of my favorite little details on this card is the lemonade.

Instead of stamping it entirely in yellow, I stamped the glass in Strawberry Slush, just like the coordinating washi tape, then colored the lemonade using Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.

Using alcohol markers over water-based stamped images allows the color to stay crisp without smearing the stamped outline, making it a quick and easy way to add depth.

Layering for Dimension

The three stamped squares are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to add depth across the card front.

I also layered a stitched circle featuring the sentiment: “Fun in the Sun.”

By overlapping the sentiment with the stamped images instead of placing it off to one side, the entire design feels more connected and balanced.

Handmade Sunglasses

One of my favorite embellishments is still the sunglasses.

Instead of using pre-colored die cuts from the washi tape, I created custom sunglasses by die cutting:

  • Strawberry Slush frames
  • Basic Black lenses

The coordinating dies make assembly quick, and using liquid adhesive allows a little extra time to position the tiny pieces perfectly.

Just remember that each lens has a left and right side, so it’s worth keeping them organized while assembling.

Creating Custom Embellishments

Sometimes the perfect embellishment color simply doesn’t exist.

Rather than settling for a different color, I used my Light Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Blend to color Iridescent Basic Jewels.

It’s a simple trick that lets you perfectly coordinate your embellishments with the rest of your card.

Just remember to wipe away any excess ink before placing them on your project.

Always Tweaking the Design

One thing I love about preparing for classes is that I have time to continue refining my projects.

During the live, I compared today’s version with my original sample and talked through a few possible changes, including:

  • Adding more pink throughout the design
  • Incorporating additional die-cut images from the washi tape
  • Rearranging embellishments for better balance

Sometimes those little adjustments make all the difference, and I enjoy sharing that creative process with you.

Perfect for Summer Crafting

This cheerful design would be perfect for:

  • Summer birthdays
  • Beach trips
  • Vacation memories
  • Girls’ weekends
  • Thinking of You cards
  • Just Because cards

The bright colors and playful images capture everything we love about summertime.

Whether you recreate this exact card or use the layout as inspiration for your own favorite summer stamps, I hope you’ll give this project a try.

If you make one, I’d love to see it!
